Like all good things in life, the Fisherman's Chillba was born on a kayaking trip in Okinawa. KAVU Founder Barry Barr kept losing his sun hat in the wet rain but the guide had no problems with his reed sloped hat. Once again, an idea was born. This reversible, foldable sunhat is perfect for travel and excellent in wind with a drawcord chinstrap. The steel ring is made at Ballard Sheet Metal down the street from KAVU HQ and the hat is still made in the Emerald City.

Kavu Organic Strapcap This is where it all began. In 1991 Barry Barr was running a fishing boat off the wet and windy Alaskan coast. A gust blew his hat off his head and sent it into the drink. This would be the last time this happened to Barry Barr because he had an idea; make a better hat. Fast forward nearly 30 years and this beauty is still hand cut and hand sewn in Seattle by the same family. How about that for staying power?
